リーガル・ハイ (Legal High - Blog 6)

What can I say...great show. "Legal High" is so popular and highly rated not just in Japan, but also in China and beyond, and for good reason. This is a Japanese comedy-led legal drama and while it’s technically a "law" drama, it prioritizes comedy above all else, delivering laugh-out-loud moments through its absurd characters and situations. Yet, when it does shift focus to the legal aspects, it remains compact, well-researched, and respectful of the legal profession.

The heart of the show lies in the dynamic between rookie attorney Mayuzumi Machiko (actress: Aragaki Yui) and the infamous Komikado Kensuke (actor: Sakai Masato). Kensuke is a legal genius with a flawless 100% win rate, but he’s also arrogant, selfish, and morally ambiguous—willing to fight for the corrupt as long as they pay. Machiko, on the other hand, is the idealistic newbie who believes in justice, fairness, and doing the "right" thing. Through their clashing perspectives, the show dives deep into the role of a lawyer and the elusive concept of justice. Exactly what is "right" and what is "wrong"? If you know your defense is morally wrong, should you still fight for them?

I say all this to say, you guys should watch it if you haven't already. It's a great show for when you want something funny yet interesting to pass time— also helps that Aragaki Yui is so pretty (///▽///)

*Side Note: Also, I know there's a Korean adaptation; don't watch it. It's not good both as an adaptation and as an individual show >:(
